Magazine Spread Design – Music Editorial Concept
Role : Editoral & Graphic Designer
Year 2023
As part of my Digital Media studies, I developed a magazine spread for a conceptual print publication, focusing on typography, layout, and editorial storytelling.
Project Overview
The goal was to create a visually engaging and structured design that appeals to a young, music-interested audience.
Process and Challenges
I opted for a minimalist aesthetic with black-and-white photography and blue undertones to maintain a modern and cohesive look. To enhance visual storytelling, I incorporated custom illustrations created in Illustrator. A key challenge was balancing text and imagery to ensure readability without overwhelming the layout. I solved this by experimenting with font weights, spacing, and paragraph structure, using New Order and Brother 1816 to create a clear typographic hierarchy.
Outcome & Impact
The final design successfully blends bold visuals with structured typography, creating an editorial layout that feels both modern and functional. The spread effectively guides the reader through the content, utilizing strategic spacing, bold highlights, and an engaging image composition. This project strengthened my ability to create targeted, visually compelling editorial designs that resonate with a specific audience.
